In the fourth quarter of 2024, the performance of navigation and maps applications in Australia displayed notable trends across various metrics. Here's a closer look at the top five apps in this category, with data provided by Sensor Tower.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw a consistent increase in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 57K during the week of December 23. Weekly active users also showed a positive trend, starting at around 1.2M and reaching nearly 1.4M by the end of the quarter.

Google Maps maintained a steady presence with weekly downloads fluctuating between 24K and 32K. Active users remained robust throughout the quarter, hovering around the 12.5M mark, with a slight peak at 12.6M in the final week of December.

Google Earth experienced stable download numbers, generally around the 11K to 14K range. Active users showed a gradual decline from 159K to 133K by the end of December.

Segway Mobility demonstrated a significant spike in downloads in late December, reaching 12.6K, up from an average of 2K earlier in the quarter. Active users mirrored this trend, peaking at 15.5K in the same period.
